Dancing Allstar meets Littlemiss Allison

CALGARY, Alberta - Dancing Allstar, winner of the 2007 Sovereign Award as top juvenile filly in Canada, and Littlemiss Allison, undefeated champion of her division on this circuit last year, meet for the first time here in Sunday's $50,000 Mount Royal Handicap.

The much-anticipated match-up has been touted for weeks and resulted in just two other fillies showing up at entry time for the six-furlong Mount Royal.

Dancing Allstar, who is trained by Terry Jordan, won four stakes last year, including the My Dear at Woodbine. She also was second in two other stakes there and dominated her rivals in three stakes upon her return to Hastings last fall.

Littlemiss Allison, trained by Greg Tracy, was no less overpowering in Alberta. She won all four of her starts, including three stakes, and won drawing off each time as much the best.

Dancing Allstar will be the 124-pound highweight on Sunday, conceding two pounds to Littlemiss Allison, and drew post 3 with leading rider Quincy Welch up.

Littlemiss Allison breaks just inside to her inside with regular rider Rickey Walcott up.

Dancing Allstar, who is making her season debut, is expected to be favored, but Littlemiss Allison will have plenty of backers.

Littlemiss Allison comes off an impressive victory in the Houston Oaks at Sam Houston on March 8 and has that conditioning edge in her favor. She defeated Timely Reflection and Twisted Tale in the one-mile stakes, and those two came back to run one-two in a sprint stakes at Lone Star on April 26.

Bears Artiste, fit from a winter campaign at Laurel, and Spicy Candy, a recent allowance winner here, round out the field.
