Dance to the Star sparkles off last

The $25,000 Colorado Breeders Futurity at Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colo., on Saturday looks like easy pickings for trainer Kenneth Gleason. He will saddle the solid choice Dance to the Star, who romped in his trial here two weeks ago, as well as Homerun King in the field of 11.

Dance to the Star stamped himself as the leading candidate for this six-furlong race for statebred 2-year-olds by posting a 12-length victory as the odds-on choice in his trial. In his career debut, Dance to the Star rallied to finish third to Wicked Flyer, who is also in this field

Homerun King was an all-out neck winner in his trial. He dueled throughout the six-furlong test to defeat Major Big Time and Wicked Flyer.

Adrian Ramos has the return call on Dance to the Star, and Orlando Martinez replaces Ramos aboard Homerun King.

Wicked Flyer won at first asking here by 1 1/2 lengths on June 1. Dance to the Star finished third that day, four lengths behind runner-up Rocktober. In the trials, he chased but was unable to reach Homerun King and Major Big Time, and was beaten 3o1/4 lengths. Trainer Larry Chavez will add blinkers on Saturday.

Major Big Time looks capable of pulling off the upset. He was making his career debut in the trials on Juneo28 and turned in a solid effort. He came off the rail to make the lead in midstretch but was outfinished by Homerun King. Travis Wales will be aboard for leading trainer Jon Arnett.- Larry Hejna
