Email

Dance With Ravens, a Grade 2 winner and veteran Mid-Atlantic stallion, has been sold to Saudi Arabian interests and will stand in that country for the 2016 breeding season.

The 13-year-old son of A.P. Indy previously stood at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md., for a fee of $3,000.

Dance With Ravens has sired seven crops of racing age, with 254 starters, 174 winners, and progeny earnings of $13.7 million. His 13 stakes winners include Ann’s Smart Dancer, Motherload Hipster, Phil’s Dancer, Bayonne, Spring Dance, Relay Bill, Darn That Raven, I Stand Alone, Maddy’s Dance, and Ravenheart. The latter won the Maryland Juvenile Futurity at Laurel Park on Dec. 26 for owner Bode Miller, who was an Olympic skiing gold medalist.

An Ontario homebred, Dance With Ravens is a product of the highly successful Sam-Son Farm family tree that finds its roots through his dam, Canadian Horse of the Year and Broodmare of the Year Dance Smartly, Canadian champion Classy ‘n Smart, and Canadian Hall of Famer No Class.

Dance Smartly is the dam of six winners from as many runners, including Canadian champion Dancethruthedawn, dual Canadian classic winner Scatter the Gold, Grade 3-placed Dance to Destiny, and stakes-placed Dance Brightly. Dance to Destiny, by Mr. Prospector, has been standing in Saudi Arabia since 2012.

Dance With Ravens won three of seven starts and earned $340,600, including wins in the Grade 2 Grey Breeders’ Cup Stakes and the Plate Trial Stakes, as well as a runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Summer Stakes.
