Dam of Smarty Jones for sale

Smarty Jones's dam, I'll Get Along, will be offered for sale at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky's selected fall mixed auction on Nov. 7, the sale company announced Monday.

I'll Get Along, a 14-year-old stakes winner by Smile, is in foal to Elusive Quality, meaning she is carrying a full sibling to Smarty Jones, winner of this year's Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. She produced an Orientate colt in March and has a yearling colt by Hennessy this year.

John Sykes's Cloverleaf Farm II bought I'll Get Along for $130,000 from Smarty Jones's breeders, Roy and Pat Chapman, at the 2001 Keeneland November mixed auction.

"Owning the dam of Smarty Jones during the Triple Crown races has been the absolute next best thing to owning Smarty himself," said Brent Fernung, manager of Cloverleaf, located in Ocala, Fla.

I'll Get Along is out of the Foolish Pleasure mare Don't Worry Bout Me, winner of the 1986 My Dear Girl Stakes.
