Dale Duspiva is dead at 53

Dale Duspiva, longtime chart caller and racetracker, died Wednesday from a brain tumor. He was 53.

Duspiva worked in the marketing department for Bay Meadows and Golden Gate Fields after a 28-year career with Daily Racing Form as chart caller. Among the races he worked was the 1975 Kentucky Derby.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bay Meadows in San Mateo, Calif., for Duspiva. He is survived by his wife, Bev; a daughter, Erin; a son, David; his parents, Frank and Virginia Duspiva; and a sister, Nancy.
