Daich and Richards qualify at Calder

Jeff Daich and Myles Richards captured the two handicapping contests at Calder Racecourse in 2006, each earning cash awards and spots in the NTRA/DRF National Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas in January.

Daich, a native of Miami, defeated 115 other contestants on July 16 to win the Handicapping Summit and a grand prize of $11,937. He beat out runnerup Richard Prozanski of Irvine, California, and Robert Charowsky of Jersey City, New Jersey, both of whom also earned spots in the National Handicapping Championship.

Richards, a graduate of the University of Miami from Pembroke Pines, Fla., earned a first-place check of $10,000 for winning the Calder Handicapping Championship on October 15. His wife, Traci, finished third. Both will head to Las Vegas for the National Handicapping Championship alone with runnerup William Galdorise.

Daich and Myles Richards are eligible for a $1 million bonus offered by Churchill Downs, Inc. should either win the National Handicapping Championship.
