D Fine Okie continues stakes roll

Trainer Donnie Von Hemel continued his stakes roll at Remington Park on Saturday night, when he sent out D Fine Okie to a two-length win over 4-5 favorite Plaid in the $75,000 Lady's Secret. It was third straight stakes win at the meet for Von Hemel, and his eighth at the track in the last six weeks.

D Fine Okie ($5.20) tracked pacesetter Where Woody Bea through fractions of 23.84 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.24 seconds for the half-mile mark and 1:11.43 for six furlongs before overtaking that one in the stretch and going on to win the mile and a sixteenth race for fillies and mares in a time of 1:42.91.

Don Pettinger rode the winner, who races for her breeder, Richter Family Trust. D Fine Okie earned $46,250 for the win, which was her ninth from 23 career starts. A daughter of former Von Hemel trainee Burbank, she has career earnings of $263,315.
