Curlin's Approval, with Tyler Gaffalione aboard, wins the Added Elegance at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.

Curlin’s Approval entered Sunday’s $75,000 Added Elegance at Gulfstream Park at an apparent experience disadvantage, having made only three starts and being a 3-year-old filly matched against older mares.

In the end it proved to be no obstacle. She won the Added Elegance, drawing away late from her pacesetting rival Moment of Delight to notch 1 1/2-length victory under Tyler Gaffalione.

Breaking from the outside post in the field of eight, the winner pressed the pace early through a quarter-mile in 22.53 seconds, before turning up the head on Moment of Delight on the turn, forcing the latter into a 44.64-second split. The leading duo then dueled head to head until midstretch, at which point Curlin’s Approval gradually began to edge clear. She raced seven furlongs in 1:22.17.

A homebred daughter of Curlin owned by Alters Racing Stable and trained by Marty Wolfson, she paid $8.60 as the second choice in the wagering.

Even-money favorite Miss Hollywood ran third, 2 1/2 lengths behind the runner-up, in an even-paced performance after being outsprinted early.

Kiss to Remember, with Chantal Sutherland in from California for the ride, ran fourth, and was followed across the wire by Killer Bird, Concealedwithakiss, Savingtime, and Caboclo do Rio.
