Curlin has easy work at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Curlin worked five furlongs in 1:02.69 over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga early Monday morning.

While his connections ponder their options for Curlin’s next start, the reigning Horse of the Year continues to train forwardly.  As is customary, Curlin went off at an easy pace, covering his opening quarter-mile and three furlongs in 25.76 seconds and 38.06. He came home his final quarter in 24.63 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:16.29. Curlin was under little pressure throughout the drill.

Curlin has been invited to the Grade 1 Sword Dancer Invitational on the turf here Aug. 16. Other options include the Grade 1 Woodward at Saratoga on Aug. 30 or the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on Aug. 24.
