Cupid became the latest stakes-winning graduate of the 2014 Keeneland September yearling sale when he captured the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn Park. Cupid, a son of leading sire Tapit, was a $900,000 purchase by the Coolmore team out of the bellwether yearling sale, making him one of 15 horses sold at that price point or higher. The auction was co-topped by unbeaten early Kentucky Derby favorite Mohaymen and Group 2-placed Air Vice Marshal at $2.2 million. Of the 15 horses sold for $900,000 or more at that sale, 10 have started. Four are winners, with three stakes performers. Also sold at Keeneland in September 2014 were Derby Watch members Greenpointcrusader ($575,000), Destin ($400,000), Zulu ($400,000), Brody’s Cause ($350,000), Laoban ($260,000), Mo Tom ($150,000), Exaggerator ($110,000), and Suddenbreakingnews ($72,000). :: DRF BREEDING LIVE: Real-time coverage of breeding and sales
