Cup betting to be universal

The Friday and Saturday Breeders' Cup cards from Santa Anita Park are expected to be available at virtually every parimutuel betting location in the U.S. and through every domestic account-wagering provider, the top simulcast official of Breeders' Cup said on Tuesday.

"I'm not aware of any outlet in the U.S. that is not going to be taking it," said Ken Kirchner, the simulcast consultant to Breeders' Cup.

All wagering outlets are expected to handle all the bets that are being offered at Santa Anita, including 10-cent superfectas on every race. On Saturday, a $3 million guaranteed pick six will link the last six Breeders' Cup races, beginning with the Mile and ending with the Classic.

A live broadcast of the five Friday races will begin at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2 and end at 6:30 p.m. Post time for the first BC race, the Filly and Mare Sprint, will be 3:35 p.m. Eastern, and the last race, the Ladies' Classic, will have a post time of 6:15 p.m.

The live broadcast on Saturday will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern on ABC-TV, ESPN's sister station. At 3:30, the live broadcast will switch to ESPN, with a scheduled conclusion of 7 p.m.
