CTHS sale: Leonnatus Anteas weanling brings $32,000


ETOBICOKE, Ontario - A $32,000 weanling colt by Canadian champion 2-year-old Leonnatus Anteas headed the 2011 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society’s winter mixed sale at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion on Saturday.

Can. Co. Bloodstock purchased the sale topper, who is out of Canadian champion turf female Chopinina. The colt was consigned by Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency, as agent, which also sold the leading broodmare, Galipette, who brought $20,000 from John Carey. The 7-year-old is pregnant to Old Forester.

The highest-priced yearling was a $26,000 Tethra colt, who was bought by Windways Farm from Paradox Farm Inc., as agent.

A total of 118 head sold for $461,450, which was 8.9 percent lower than last year, when 124 head realized $506,700. The average of $3,911 was 4.3 percent lower than the 2010 average of $4,086. A total of 67 were listed as not sold, compared to 75 last year.
