Crypto's Twinjet favored in Queen City Oaks

As Crypto's Twinjet has risen through the ranks of Ohio-bred 3-year-old fillies, she has met with difficulty on a few occasions.

Usually those tough times were directly the fault of Joanies Bella, who has dominated the class, or the occasional filly who has jumped up and run a big one, such as Crypto Cream did in the Annie Oakley at Thistledown last month.

But when the $100,000 Queen City Oaks is run Saturday at River Downs in Cincinnati, neither Joanies Bella nor Crypto Cream will be part of the opposition. Surely that will help to make Crypto's Twinjet the solid favorite in a field of 10 entered in the 1 1/8-mile Queen City Oaks.

Crypto's Twinjet, a Cryptoclearance filly trained by Luis Palacios, actually was elevated to first in the Annie Oakley after Crypto Cream was disqualified. Before that, Crypto's Twinjet captured the Tomboy Stakes at River Downs in May, a victory that most River horseplayers are apt to recall when they step up to the windows Saturday.

Crypto's Twinjet has five wins and three seconds from nine career starts. In the unlikely event that she somehow loses that consistency Saturday, perhaps the most likely rival to claim victory will be Saratoga Set or Kind of Fun, both of whom own effective late kicks.

The Queen City Oaks is the seventh of eight races on a Saturday card that starts at 2:05 p.m. Eastern. Post time for the feature is 4:58.
