Crimson Bucky switches to dirt

Email

Crimson Bucky looks for her first win on dirt when she heads a field of 10 Michigan-bred fillies in the $50,000 Michigan Oaks at Pinnacle Race Course.

Crimson Bucky ships in from Presque Isle Downs, where she is 2 for 5, including a recent five-length allowance win on the Tapeta surface. Trainer Gerald Bennett and owner Mary Bennett bred Crimson Bucky, a half-sister to Michigan stakes winners Bucky's Prayer and Zosia's Genius.

Leading rider Terry Houghton gets the call on Crimson Bucky, who will break from post 5. All starters will carry 121 pounds in the 1 1/16-mile race.

Twilighted Thistle, second in the Ann Arbor Stakes locally on Sept. 1, will try to cure her seconditis. She also checked in second in the Regret Stakes on opening weekend. Derek Bell will ride for trainer Roger Spiess.

Regret winner Wave Pool will try to atone for her fourth-place finish as the favorite in the Ann Arbor. Owned by Pinnacle CEO Felicia Campbell, Wave Pool is trained by Ronnie Allen and will be ridden by Freddie Mata.
