Creative Miss gets top honors in Michigan

Creative Miss, who won her maiden race for an $8,000 claiming price at Great Lakes Downs in May and then conluded her 2005 season with three conscutive stakes wins, has been named Michigan Thoroughbred of the year by the Michigan Racing Commission.

Creative Miss, now 4, lost her career debut against open $15,000 claiming company at Turfway Park in February 2005 but went on to win five of her seven starts against statebreds during the Great Lakes Downs season for trainer Scott Sowle. She concluded her 3-year-old campaign with open-length victories in the Ann Arbor Stakkes, Michigan Oaks, and Michigan Sire Stakes. She earned $164,000 last year for her owner-breeders Todd and Carol Weddon of Vicksbirg, Mich.

A daughter of Creative out of the Clever Trick mare J.P.'s Big Girl, Creative Miss recently turned in her first work of 2006 at Turfway Park.
