Crafty Shaw to Buck Pond


Doug Arnold's Buck Pond Farm, which has raised the fee for Lost in the Fog's sire, Lost Soldier, from $7,500 to $12,500 for 2006, announced this week that it is expanding its stallion roster and also will host a broodmare and weanling auction.

The Versailles, Ky., nursery has purchased multiple Grade 3 winner Crafty Shaw, and will stand the 7-year-old Crafty Prospector horse in 2006. His fee has yet to be announced. Crafty Shaw leaves the racetrack with a 44-15-7-7 record and $1,046,440 in his bankroll. A son of the Grade 1-placed Air Forbes Won matron Her She Shawklit, Crafty Shaw won nine stakes, including the Grade 3 Rebel, Turfway Park Fall Championship (twice), Hanshin Cup, and Essex Handicap.

On Oct. 23, the farm will offer about 60 broodmares and weanlings at auction. The broodmares will sell with a no-guarantee 2006 season to a Buck Pond Farm stallion. Horses will be available for inspection at the farm from Oct. 21-23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Oct. 23, a stallion show will start at 5 and the auction will begin at 6.
