'Cowboy' completes five-win day for Elliott

Stewart Elliott rode his fifth winner of the day as Who's the Cowboy came from far back to nip Joey P. by a neck in the $93,000 Icecapade Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Joey P. looked to have his 13th career win at Monmouth locked up when he surged past dueling pacesetters Mobo and Stormin Normandy turning for home.

Who's the Cowboy, four-wide through the lane, kicked home strongly to win the battle of the two New Jersey bred 6-year-old geldings.

"They set a pretty good pace for us and that's what we were looking for," Elliott said. "This horse always closes strong. I was pretty confident we could get there."

Who's the Cowboy ($21) earned his 12th Monmouth win and second in five races this season. The time was 1:09.46 for the six furlongs on the fast track.

* Run Sully Run ($7.60) rallied to win the $58,200 Gilded Time Stakes for 3-year-olds on the turf, capping a big stakes weekend at Monmouth for trainer Cam Gambolati and jockey Carlos Marquez Jr.

They also teamed to win the Grade 3 Red Bank Stakes on Saturday with Buffalo Man.

Run Sully Run, the early trailer in the four-horse field, won by 1 1/2 lengths for his fourth win in 14 starts. X Rated Cat, second under the wire, was disqualified and placed third for stretch interference with Chitoz, who was elevated to the place spot.

The winningtime was 1:01.89 for the 5 1/2 furlongs on the firm course.
