Count on Leslie's Love to put up a fight

Leslie's Love is not an easy mare to run down. A winner of 20 races, she is the one to catch Sunday in the inaugural running of the $50,000 Hallowed Dreams at Louisiana Downs.

A six-furlong race, the Hallowed Dreams is restricted to fillies and mares bred in Louisiana.

Leslie's Love showed grit in her last start, when she dueled on the lead in the five-furlong Miller Lite Stakes at Lone Star Park on June 26. She lost her advantage on the turn, but came back to regain the lead. Leslie's Love then appeared on her way to victory, but was overtaken by the late rush of Fleeta Dif, who followed her Miller Lite win with a victory in the $40,000 Adena Springs Matchmaker last Sunday at Remington Park.

Leslie's Love has been pointed for the Hallowed Dreams since the Miller Lite. She shows a nice series of works for the race and has drawn well in post 4. That places her outside of Kylers Midge, who drew the rail and appears to be the main pace rival to Leslie's Love.

Gerard Melancon has the mount on Leslie's Love for trainer Troy Young.

Kylers Midge has won two of her last three starts, including a 2 1/2-length win in the $40,000 Tellike Handicap at Evangeline Downs on May 29. A 13-time winner, she worked five furlongs in 1:01.80 on Aug. 1 for the Hallowed Dreams.

Trainer David Baker has given the mount to Mario Reyes.
