Correct Call goes turf to dirt

Correct Call will attempt to continue her dominance of the Ohio-bred 3-year-old fillies division when she faces seven others in the $75,000 Queen City Oaks at River Downs.

Correct Call has been perfect for trainer Mark Shuman, winning all three races since being claimed last Aug. 28 at Monmouth Park for $50,000. In her most recent out on May 15, Correct Call won the Tomboy by three lengths going 1 1/16 miles over a soft turf course at River. That was the first attempt on the turf for Correct Call as well as her first attempt at a distance longer than the 6 1/2 furlongs of her maiden win.

The impressive victory should be a signal that the distance of the Queen City Oaks, 1 1/8 miles on the main track, should not be a problem.

All eight fillies will carry 122 pounds. The others in the field are Country Club Sue, Adreamfordarlene, Queen Imalda, Golden Girl Glory, Applewitch, Mini Miss Tori, and Squeezer's Palace.
