Coolmore buys interest in Majestic Warrior

EmailLEXINGTON, Ky. - Coolmore Stud has privately has purchased a half-interest in Majestic Warrior, one of the nation's top-ranked 2-year-olds, from George Steinbrenner and his family, who campaign the A.P. Indy colt in the name of Kinsman Stable.

Majestic Warrior will continue to be trained by Bill Mott, who has saddled Majestic Warrior for both his career starts to date. Majestic Warrior won his debut over 6 1/2 lengths at Saratoga on Aug. 4, then came back to win the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes over Ready's Image and Maimonides on Sept. 3. Majestic Warrior is expected to make his next start in the Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont Park on Oct. 6.

Coolmore Stud did not disclose the purchase price paid by Coolmore principal John Magnier and associates Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith.

Kinsman Stable bred Majestic Warrior, who will continue to carry the Steinbrenner family's racing colors. He will retire at the end of his racing career to Ashford Stud, Coolmore's Kentucky division near Versailles, Ky.

Majestic Warrior is a son of the dual Grade 1-winning Seeking the Gold mare Dream Supreme. He is a full brother to 2006 stakes winner Crystal Current.
