ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Conquest Boogaloo ($6.90) collared the 4-5 favorite Glenville Gardens inside the eighth pole en route to a decisive score Sunday at Woodbine in the $140,000 Swynford Stakes. Honkeytonk Man set slow fractions in the seven-furlong sprint for 2-year-olds before being overtaken early in the stretch by Glenville Gardens. Conquest Boogaloo bided his time at the rear of the five-horse field through the turn before closing stoutly on the outside to prevail by two lengths in 1:23.97. Patrick Husbands rode Conquest Boogaloo for Conquest Stable and trainer Mark Casse, who said he scratched the morning-line favorite Conquest Typhoon from the race because of his rail draw with this Saturday’s Grade 2 Summer Stakes in mind. “[Conquest Boogaloo] left the gate slow,” Husbands said. “Once he got in the clear, I knew he’d run them down.” The debuting Glenville Gardens wound up second by 1 1/2 lengths over Honkeytonk Man, who faded to third.
