Connally next possible target for General Charley

General Charley, a stakes winner on dirt who is now 2 for 3 on turf after his victory in last month's $45,000 Tomball at Sam Houston Race Park, will be considered for the track's Grade 3, $200,000 Connally Breeders' Cup Turf on April 7.

"We're nominating to the Connally and going to take a look at that as a possibility," said Mike Stidham, who trains General Charley.

General Charley won the Tomball by 4 1/2 lengths for his second straight win on turf. In his only other start on grass, he was third.

"I thought he ran a good race in the stakes the other night," said Stidham. "I didn't think he'd draw away from those horses like he did. Those are decent horses, that Northern Scene and Goosey Moose."

General Charley races for his breeder, Stonerside Stable.

* Stonerside also bred and owns Speedway, winner last weekend of the $45,000 Texas Heritage, a one-mile race for 3-year-olds. The next-race plans for the colt are still being determined, his trainer, Bernie Flint, said on Wednesday.
