Condilenios has them surrounded

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Leading trainer Dino Condilenios will saddle half of the six horses entered in the Sunday feature race at Hastings, a 6 1/2-furlong $50,000 optional claimer for 3-year-old fillies. Literary and Prestigiosa are coupled in the wagering and will likely be favored, while Darlin Maggie is making her first start of the year and figures to be a price.

Literary and Prestigiosa would each receive substantial support on her own merit. Literary won a similar race two starts ago and is coming off of an even effort against allowance fillies in her first attempt at a route Aug. 7.

She showed a lot of promise at 2 in her second start, winning a maiden special weight race by 6 1/4 lengths, but she hasn't progressed as much as anticipated and appears to be just a cut below the top fillies at Hastings. She certainly fits with this group, though, and jockey Frank Fuentes should be able to place her just off of what figures to be a quick pace.

Prestigiosa figures to be part of the pace. A Kentucky-bred daughter of Dynaformer, Prestigiosa didn't make her first start until Aug. 7, but she showed great potential, leading every step of the way to beat favored Basket of Dreams by 1 1/4 lengths. She drew outside on Sunday with David Wilson aboard.

Devil's Eclipse has been on a roll since returning from a short vacation in most of May and June. Beginning with an easy win over $25,000 maidens June 26, she's won three straight races.
