Columbus: Bevys Dazzler eyes five in row

Bevys Dazzler puts a four-race win streak on the line in a field of eight gathered for Saturday's $15,000 Amadevil Stakes for older Nebraska-breds going six furlongs at Columbus.

Bevys Dazzler won both the Big Red Mile and State Fair Board Stakes at Lincoln this year during his win streak. He comes into this race off a starter allowance sprint win at Horsemen's Park on July 21 and should be well backed to win his fifth straight.

He was also a dual stakes winner here last year as a 3-year-old, taking both the Hall of Fame and Columbus Breeders' Special while compiling a 5-for-5 mark during the year. Bevys Dazzler, trained by David Anderson, will have the riding services of Larren Delorme, who has been aboard during the win streak.

Skwhirl, trained by Bob Rising, is coming off a strong second to Blumin Attitude in the Who Doctor Who Handicap at Horsemen's Park and appears ready for another strong effort here as he turns back off that one-mile effort. There should be a strong pace to run at for closers, and if Bevys Dazzler joins the fray up front, it could set up nicely for Skwhirl to get the upset.

The speed horses include Power Sweep Left, Did, and the filly C. R. Charmer, who have all been on or very near the lead in their latest races. C. R. Charmer is a four-time winner this year and comes off a victory in the Falls Amiss Handicap at Horsemen's Park.
