Columbus: All six have a shot

Super Call and Thoughtuwasatoad should vie for favoritism in Saturday's $15,000-added Van Berg Derby at Columbus, but there are no tossouts in the field of six.

For 3-year-olds, the Van Berg Derby is run at a mile and 70 yards.

A stakes winner last year, Thoughtuwasatoad tuned up for the Van Berg Derby in a 6 1/2-furlong second-level allowance prep here last Saturday, when he was second, beaten four lengths. Thoughtuwasatoad made a bid into the far turn, but could not sustain the effort.

Super Call has made six of his 11 starts at a mile or longer, including a maiden win at Lone Star Park at a mile June 24 and an entry-level allowance win at Columbus on Aug. 5.

Streakin Beauty has a chance to upset the two favorites. A 3-year-old filly, she finished third in a one-mile claiming race at Horsemen's Park on July 22, but she rebounded with a 3 3/4-length win in a second-level allowance at six furlongs here July 29. She will face males for the first time this year.

Indigo Rd is a threat to wire this field. He had a three-race win streak snapped here Aug. 5, when he was fourth in the Hall of Fame Stakes.
