Colonial: Live pedigree play

Dreaming of Anna will be favored off her impressive maiden win in Chicago, but pedigree players looking for value in the $60,000 Tippett for 2-year-old fillies at Colonial Downs would be wise to take a long look at Changeisgonnacome.

Although she is one of four maidens in a 13-horse field going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf, Changeisgonnacome has a license to outrun her 10-1 morning-line odds.

Notably, Changeisgonnacome is a half-sister to Little Miss Pamela, a foal of 2000 who was 3 for 4 on grass at Colonial, including a 5 3/4-length victory in the 2002 Tippett and a win in the 2003 Oakley.

Changeisgonnacome is trained by Mike Trombetta, whose 1-for-23 record at Colonial belies his overall 21 percent success overall this season.

Dreaming of Anna, who will be making her turf debut after scoring a four-length win in a rapidly run 4 1/2-furlong maiden race at Arlington Park in May, has a strong pedigree for grass, too.

Her full brother, the 3-year-old Lewis Michael, won the Grand Canyon as a juvenile on the Churchill Downs turf and placed third in the Grade 3 Tropical Park Derby on the grass at Calder.

Two others with superior Tomlinson ratings for turf are Pure Fantasy, who easily defeated maiden claimers at Colonial in her career debut, and Flying Kiwi, who most recently defeated straight maidens on dirt at Philadelphia Park.
