Cognizant has three in Frank Arnason

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - A field of six Manitoba-bred maiden 2-year-olds will go in the $40,000 Frank Arnason Sire Stakes at six furlongs here Saturday.

Three runners by Cognizant are represented in the Frank Arnason: the geldings Missing Fortune and King Atholton and the filly Clairebell.

Dargai, Shrike, and Circulating have one foal each in the Frank Arnason.

Clairebell finished second, 6 1/2 lengths behind Thunderacchi, in her only start here July 15 and appears to be the one to beat.

Trainer Chad Torevell sends out Missing Fortune and King Atholton.

Missing Fortune finished fifth, beaten 8 1/2 lengths, in her debut July 1 before finishing third last out, a half-length back of Clairebell, in the July 15 race. Missing Fortune is is out of Prairie Oaks, who won the restricted Manitoba Sire Stakes here as a 2-year-old and has produced Prairie Dream, who won three restricted stakes as a 2-year-old, including the Frank Arnason.

Prairie Oaks also foaled restricted stakes winner Goin N Style along with restricted stakes-placed runners Understanding Lady and New Release.

King Atholton is out of the mare Atholton, who won 2 of 10 starts in the United States as a 2-year-old. Atholton also produced Bashful Cloud, the third-place finisher in the 2001 Frank Arnason and a restricted stakes winner at 3.

Rylee Bear was well beaten in both of his starts, as was Talon Time in his lone start July 23.

First-time starter Farm Team completes the field.
