ELMONT, N.Y. – Cloud Computing, who won last year’s Preakness, came out of his narrow fourth-place finish in last Saturday’s Grade 3 Westchester Stakes at Belmont Park with a chip in a front ankle and will need surgery, trainer Chad Brown said Wednesday. Cloud Computing had a similar problem last September, when an ankle chip was diagnosed following a workout three weeks after he ran in the Travers Stakes. “Unfortunately, he’s on the sidelines again,” Brown said. “Hopefully, we’ll give him another try later in the year. It’s disappointing. He’s a horse we were excited to have a good year with; he was training really, really well going into the race.” Cloud Computing looked poised to rally by the front-runners in the Westchester when he began to lug in during upper stretch. He eventually finished fourth, beaten a neck by winner Tale of Silence.
