DRF Plus Preview

Race 1

Marina Del Heat
Different bugs takes the reins today; could flash more speed on the stretch out but she only beat 4 horses in her first 3 races; not sold on chances.
Two Blue Hens
Proctor 6 for 36 or 17% the last 5 years with sprint to route maiden claimers and 3 ran second; considering the winner was clear last time, the race was not all that bad; Gomez got a chance to figure her out and the sprint may have sharpened her speed; backers can point to the fact that kin Heavenly Choir banked nearly $100K; respect everything from this barn.
Tiz Zoe Cee
Jones 9 for 44 or 20% the last 5 years with MSW to maiden claiming moves; off slowly in the debut, she picked it up a bit in last; 2 for 11 dam banked nearly $100K; this is her first to race; got a feeling we have not seen the best from this homebred.
Intoxicating Move
She seems much better placed here; the 5/17 show horse has won twice since, the last in an N1X at Arlington with a 75 Beyer; only beaten 2 the last time for a tag; look for her late if at all.
Backers have to hope the drop shakes her up; Gallagher 5 for 35 the last 5 years with MSW to maiden claiming moves and 5 ran second; dam was unraced; lone sibling lost 6 times; been a bad actress at the gate so far and must break with her field to have any kind of chance.
Mille Luna
Miss shows in the career cheap spot; place and show horse in last took MSW events next out and the winner was 3rd beaten nearly 5 in an N1X fray; she has a ton of work to do to match top kin Rule by Night, won banked nearly $250K; expect big effort.
Rsweet Serendipity
She regressed a bit with the blinks in last; dam was unraced; 4 of 6 siblings won; top kin Drought Breaker took 6 of 28, earned over $200K; two solid drills since the last effort; due to put to put it together.
Little Unusual
Mare misses 23 times and fans jump on 6-1; that just doesn't make a lot of sense; she clipped heels in last and now has the 3 races to draw from now; rider has had good luck for Abrams; long, long, overdue.
Awesome Gift
This $6500 purchase jumps up off a troubled dull try; she has a shot to show more speed with the blinks this time and she got a boost when the winner of last repeated in a $16K N2L with a 65 Beyer; dam was unraced; this is her first to race; hard to adore.

Race 2

Indian Classic
Sire wins with approximately 16% of his turf starters and stakes placed dam won once from nine starts for 43k, and she didn't make a turf start; she's a little interesting with a move to turf but she will have to dial it up a notch or two to get the better of this field.
Field Report
Have to respect the consistency he's demonstrated through his first 13 starts and like to see what he's done in his three most recent races over turf, but can ignore the fact that has recorded a combined 10 second and third place finishes with only one victory.
Pulpit's Express
He's another who usually shows up and runs his race, and when seing the early speed that he's demonstrated sprinting in the past, he might appreciate getting a chance to see what he can do in a turf dash like this.
Love de Car
Sire wins with approximately 10% of his turf starters and dam won four of 30 starts for 79k, including 0-for-4 over turf; third place finisher from latest won next out at Dmr on 8/3 going 6 1/2f vs. MSW rivals with a 76 Beyer; he's tough to ignore after an impressive career debut.
Toledo Eddie
Like what he did in his latest outing over this turf course and at today's distance, and the third place finisher from that race returned to win next out here on 8/16 going 5f over turf vs. 25k OPC's with an 86 Beyer.
The time off and his lack of early speed are concerns but he did put together a nice late running effort over turf sprinting three races back, even if that was going 6 1/2f; runner up from latest won next out at BHP on 5/26 going 1m over turf vs. N1X rivals with an 83 Beyer.
Free Time
He has a good deal of early speed to employ and he exits the same race as today's rival Toledo Eddie; third place finisher from latest returned to win next out here on 8/16 going 5f over turf vs. 25k OPC's with an 86 Beyer.
Ashley's Bambino
He needs to see a scratch from the main body of this race in order to draw in and he is going to need to be ready to take his game to another level in order to contend; he has the look of an outsider.
He's a Dance Star
Obviously the extended vacation is a major concern but this is a veteran runner who was on top of his game when last seen and that was a really nice group of runners he met up with last time.
He's another who hasn't been to the races and a long time, but this relatively lightly raced 5-year-old has a fine pedigree for a turf sprinter, and he ran a big race in his only start over this turf course.

Race 3

Hope 'n Pray
Lacked the finishing kick at shorter in last which is the primary concern; began career with an exacta finish and figures to be forwardly placed for this; the 2-back show runnner posted a 76 Beyer speed figure in his next-out DMR-MSW victory.
Supersonic Heat
If we can forget his first 2 DMR defeats and focus on latest he would be a major player here; rallied like a good thing in last and could have used today's extra half furlong for last; 3F-bullet workout for this suggests he will fire another good one.
St. Valentino
Return to the races for his 1st start in nearly a year and a half saw him outrun in a key race; the winner and runner-up finishers from last Beyered 70-52 in next-out SR-starter alw and GG-20K-maiden claiming wins; best Beyer was posted on dirt; has just 1 race traveling at least this far which produced a last-place finish.
Juan's Corazonsito
Working well for this which coincides with blinkers off; will need a massive form improvement off latest career-low Beyer 1st time racing on a synthetic surface to make a dent here; was defeated by double-digit lengths in both career races traveling at least 7F.
Cruel Spirits
Down to lowest-price tag of career; new rider today is his 7th different pilot in as many races which is not a good win angle; middle moved in his only race at today's distance; he cuts back in distance off his worst finish since the career debut.
Tower Hour
Ran to the 60-1 debut odds when finishing last over the track; the gate workout for this after breaking slowly was not very inspiring; the trainer yields 7% winners with 2nd-time starters since 2012; has plenty of room to improve off the unveiling.
Grand Gambler
The one to catch off latest when making the lead at shorter before fading; the 2-back winner repeated in a DMR-starter alow. with an 80 Beyer; the final yards for this are a serious issue but any runner loose on the lead can gain courage up top; know him early but unsure about late.
The Gatekeeper
Has never been better exiting his only in-the-money finish with a career-best Beyer attached; the bullet-gate workout for this adds to the appeal; longest-distance test of career today but the added half furlong off latest rally is a plus; will be tough to hold off in deep stretch.
Indian Spirit
Exits a co-career low Beyer; has just one race traveling this far in career which was a fade; posted his career-best speed figure on dirt; the 2-back winner (now 2-for-2) and the runner-up finisher Beyered 70-52 in next-out SR-starter alw. and GG-20K-maiden claiming wins.
Sire is 5-for-52 with 1st-time starters; is the 1st foal to race out of an 0-for-3 dam (8K); the 0-for-23 debut trainer since 2012 or the DMR 0-for-37 jockey does not add to the appeal; gives away experience to each rival but also catches a field lacking superstars.
Warren's Tyler S.
Exits his best finish on a synthetic surface among 3 races while posting an improved DMR-5F workout for this; the 2-back winner repeated in a BHP-optional claimer with an 80 Beyer; needs to break sharper after coming out of the gate 10th; his best Beyer was on turf at longer; likely wants more yardage to see very-best form but looms an exotics factor flying late.

Race 4

She's been taken from her last 2 at the level but didn't have much to offer either time and in the recent route she finished well behind some of today's foes filly puts the hood back on and maybe that helps get her more involved early, but don't think she'll have enough late to threaten.
Hawfinch (GB)
Rolled home to score at this trip and level, beating some of the gals she'll catch again in this spot; filly doesn't look to get a lot of pace in front of her here but in her current form that may not matter much; barn has done quite well with its limited local starters; dangerous repeat threat.
Miz Wounded Knee
Didn't have much of an impact when stretched out to face limited winners last time; sophomore will catch a tougher bunch in this spot and it appears as if they'll need to move forward several lengths in order to get involved for even a minor share; prefer others.
Katy's Kitty
Drops back to this level after fading late in her third start at the local stand; mare was ok 2 back at this trip, but she did finish behind a couple of the gals she'll tackle again in this spot; limiting her use to underneath in exotics.
Gotta Skedaddle
Set the pace through some decent splits when shades were added for the stretch out last time but had little left when rivals came to her; prior few efforts weren't very good and there's not a lot to suggest she'll take the big step forward she'll need to contend here; have to pass on this longshot.
Unkept Rendez Vous (FR)
Rally came up short when dropped to this level in the last out sprint and now she'll tackle 2 turns again; new outfit has excelled with this type right back, but it will be a challenge for them with this mare as it's been quite a while since she's seen the winner's circle.
Pure Blush
Don't know what happened to her when unable to finish the course as the chalk here last month, but she's worked ok several times since and now she'll show up for a cheaper tag; filly sems to be over what was ailing her and the effort to beat better 3 back at Hollywood plays out pretty well in here; they'll have her to beat.
Frequent Fame
Barn's second runner in here stretches out after scoring from off the pace at this level; her beaten chalk effort behind some of these at the trip 2 back wasn't bad and this 6 year old has been pretty consistent on the Beyer scale this season, but she may be best used underneath in exotics in this spot.
Fiesta Express
Mare found herself well out of it early in her local return and was left with a lot to do late against that better bunch; she'll draw towards the outside for this one and she settles for plenty of minor awards, but the class drop suits and if she's roused a bit more early she looks to have a big shot in here; contender.
Easy Goes By
Outside drawn mare removes the hood for the stretchout off a troubled sprint try in her local return; she's never tried this trip but she is capable of passing runners and maybe she's closer early at this trip; she's clearly no longer the runner she was early last summer here, though.
Suances Flower
AE drops below the level of this outfit's claim 2 starts back and now she'll stretch out to try 2 turns; she's got some early foot and she's run ok going long in the past; post isn't a bargain, but she's worth a look if she draws in.
Warrens China Doll
AE just missed and split a couple of these from a tracking spot at 32-1 while trying this level in her local return; her early foot should have her in a decent spot early and maybe that helps her overcome the draw, but she's going to need to keep moving forward in order to prove a threat again.

Race 5

Smarty Jones has proven to be a positive influence as a turf sire and like the improved performance this one showed up with at second asking; third place finisher from latest returned to win next out at Tam on 4/6 going 1m over turf vs. MSW rivals with a 79 Beyer.
Journey On
Sire wins with approximately 14% of his turf starters and dam one once from six starts for 26k, including 0-for-2 over turf; this filly is a full to stakes winner Bella Viaggia (4-7, 249k, including two of three turf starts for 133k).
Sire wins with approximately 9% of his turf starters and dam won her only start for 4k; she brings some early speed with her and this isn't a bad spot to find out what she can do over turf.
Silent Deposition
Maybe this filly deserves another chance to see what she can do racing over turf but it would've been nice to have seen her show a little bit more in her most recent start when being returned from a layoff.
Clearly Anointed
She looks like a decent fit at this level of competition and she earned a career best Beyer Speed Figure in her first start for this barn in her latest outing; look for her to show more early speed than she did in her latest race.
Coco de Carchy
She was a sharp winner just two starts ago and it's a little interesting to see that her former connections entered her over turf for her career debut; she's a 1/2 to stakes placed Justice is Brief (5-33, 223k, including 4 of 25 turf starts for 195k).
Warren's Assassin
Simply feel that her best effort is short of the mark of what it will take to get the job done in this spot, but she does have a little bit of early speed, so it wouldn't be a shock to see her involved in the running early on.
Don't like to see that she has just a single victory after 18 starts, but her best effort is fast enough to get her into the mix with these; at the very least, she's worthy of consideration underneath in the exotics.
She was claimed for 32k from her latest start and like the idea of getting her back over turf for this; she's a little interesting while getting ready to make her first start wearing blinkers, especially with Gomez aboard.
Athina Lee
English Channel has proven to be a strong influence as a turf sire and this filly deserves a lot of credit for getting the job done racing over the main track here after a long layoff in her latest outing; this miss is a 1/2 to minor stakes placed Slim Pickens (4-20, 98k, including 3 of 7 turf starts for 53k).
She needs to see a scratch from the main body of this race in order to draw in, and even though she was a very sharp winner in her latest outing, that was against 20-18k maiden claimers, and now she's meeting up with winners for the first time.
Toppers Sunshine
She ran pretty well the first time she raced over turf, and she's only made one other turf start since then, but it still looks like she's going to have to take a noticeable step forward in order to get the better of these.
Summers Dignity
Lightly raced filly goes out for a barn and rider that team up with success but this miss was so-so at best in her one turf attempt and she'll play the role of an outsider if she draws in.
Totally Blonde
She looks like another that is sitting on the Also Eligible list who is going to have a tough time of it if she draws in, but she does have some early speed to throw at these, so she can play a major role in the way that this race shapes up.

Race 6

Im Juan's Brother
Moderate works for this son of Emerald Jig who won a G3 stakes and 403K overall (his progeny have won 3 of 77 debuts); the dam won 1 of 10 and 6K; among the winning siblings is 269K earner Brother Louie.
Prince Dr
Late foal was sired by 99K winner Chhaya Dance whose offspring are zero for 3 as far as winning their first race; the dam won 1 of 8 and 41K; there are no winning siblings to highlight.
Sailors Brother
Two solid efforts thus far but he must avoid another slow getaway; his sire won multiple G2s and just over a million dollars while the dam scored in 5 of 19 appearances earning 227K; this is her only foal to compete.
Brighton Star
Scheduled to add blinkers after a respectable try earlier this month; his sire won a G1 and 1.21 million; the dam won 3 of 22 races and 100K; among the winning siblings is 85K bankroller Chanjo.
Khal Drogo
Did not recover from a slow break in his maiden voyage last month; his sire won 6 of 22 and 368K; the dam was zero for 2 lifetime; winning siblings include 9K earner La Sorta; shows an average work regimen of late.
Sheds the shades after failing to mount a rally last time out; his sire won a G3 and 484K; the mom won 2 of 40 and 97K; among the winning siblings is 98K earner Straighttomidnight; can upgrade at this lower level.
Changed running styles in his local debut; the fine sire won half of his 22 lifetime starts and 1.08 million; the dam won 2 of 10 and 112K; this is her only foal to make it to the races; can return instant dividends for the new connections.
Unusual Don
Flashed decent fighting speed in his debut while the 3 to 2 favorite; his sire won 6 of 16 and 142K; the dam won 2 of 19 and 170K; there are no winning siblings to mention; drops off the claim and can atone at a much better price.
New Order
Quit early in his first assignment but against much better stock than this; his sire won multiple G1s and 1.12 million while the dam won 2 of 13 and 53K; winning siblings include 56K earner Chrome Cruiser.
No factor in the first run but the slow getaway was likely the primary reason; his sire won multiple G3s and 173K; the dam was without a tally in 4 attempts; there are no winning siblings to highlight; note atypical 7 furlong work 11 days ago.
Silent Ruler
Caught wide in his only try earlier this month, he never posed a serious threat; his sire won 1.22 million including G1 success; the dam went zero for 2; among the winning siblings is 76K earner Tiz a Theme.
Some upbeat workouts for this new face; his sire won 3 of 11 and 135K (descendants of Vronsky have won 5 of 52 initial starts); the dam won 1 of 25 and 76K; sib to 15K earner Whilly Pink.
Did not have a smooth beginning in his only attempt; his sire was a G1 sprinter who amassed 818K; the dam won 2 of 20 and 46K; sib to 38K earner Ruthless Mama; wheels right back and may be worth following up.
Code of Pleasure
Upgraded in the latest drill; his sire won a trio of G3s and 1.08 million in total (progeny of Desert Code are zero for 6 as far as winning their debut); the dam won 1 of 6 and 24K; this is her only foal to race.

Race 7

Torbeka Rose
Today is the 1st start vs. winners which is often any runner's toughest assignment; won latest on dirt; she defeated just 2 rivals combined in 2 synthetic-surface defeats including her June loss to Amulay; new rider today for an 0-for-15 DMR trainer this meet.
Smil'n From Above
Winless since January, 2012, scoring in an SA-dirt 1M-20K-maiden claimer rallying from 3rd; her career-best Beyer speed figure was also posted on SA dirt also at 1 Mile; was no match for similar rivals over the track in last including the winner who repeated in a 16K-claimer with a 71 Beyer.
Bluegrass Ellie
Loves today's distance graduating on the lead at BHP in May; is clearly the one to catch gamely finishing 3rd at today's distance over today's DMR track in last but came up short behind Out of Thin Air; massive improvement 1st time for Delgado riding who comes back for this.
Pennies From Denny
Has not raced this far since October; disappointed in latest after a strong 2-back runner-up finish posting a career-best Beyer behind the winner who repeated in a DMR-16K-claimer with a 71 Beyer; rallied from 5th to graduate in a DMR-6F synthetic surface 18K-maiden claiming event in 2012.
The barn change and arriving from Pa. have not helped her form much; the 2-back race for this price tag was a better effort than it looks as she middle moved at longer which could set her up very well at 6.5F for this; gets the 2-back rider back while her lone win was at 1F shorter than this.
Hello Stormy
Blinkers added 3 races ago has helped her form; the career debut August, 2012, on DMR synthetic represents a solid runner-up finish and career-best Beyer at 5.5F for a 20K price tag; have to forgive latest DMR return race when troubled at the gate break losing all chance; 1st-time for a new rider in need of a fast start from the bell.
Out of Thin Air
Lone win, career-best Beyer and latest near-miss finish all were accomplished at today's distance; best races are when she breaks fast noting her lone win was gate-to-wire but showed a very-good rating gear for last; the 3-back show runner won next out in a DMR-32K claimer with a 73 Beyer.
Cori Celesti
Speedster's career-debut triumph at 4F on dirt but has not come close to running back to that effort since; scored her debut win without blinkers and they are removed for this; defeated the debut runner-up finisher who Beyered 71 in her next-out SA-40K-maiden claiming win.
Pat's Back
Exits back-to-back career-low Beyers; removes the blinkers off the key-race defeat for a high-percentage long-layoff trainer; the winner from last repeated in an SA-81K stakes with an 89 Beyer; she beat the 7th-place finisher from last a next-out 60 Beyer GG $12,500-maiden claiming victor.
Hot-DMR trainer yields just 10% winners 1st off the claim since 2012; purchased off her lowest Beyer since April when no match for Patienceisavirtue; lone win when stretched out to 2 turns but returns to a sprint for this; will be taking a wait and see approach.
Blinkers back on after latest produced a career-low speed figure; her best Beyer and lone win was with blinkers on but on dirt; finished last in her return to a synthetic surface in latest a race she likely needed off the nearly 6-month absence; likely will be forwardly placed then hopes to find the missing stamina.
The career-best Beyer was posted in her only dirt start 2-back vs. the winner who repeated in a SAC-optional claimer with a 72 speed figure; leaves a high-win percentage trainer which is not a good win angle; favored loss in last with 53 days since that disappointment vs. Smil'n From Above.
Sharp Bella
Career-best Beyer on turf and lone win posted on wet dirt; she seeks her 1st-ever synthetic-surface exacta finish; did not show anything 2-back when sent today's distance over the track; last was much better at longer than this when reuniting with the win rider who also returns for this.
Bench Beauty
Best Beyer and lone win on turf December, 2011, in a BHP-1Mile HOL-grass race; exits 2 of 3 DMR starts where she rallied very well and would figure to be even more dangerous at longer distances than 6.5F; will be flying late if in.

Race 8

Kingpin Ryno
Failed to factor off a troubled run at this trip and level last time; gelding he did win sprinting over the course last summer but he moves to the fence and doesn't possess the early foot to step with the quicker guys in here; have to side with others.
Summer Exclusive
Hood goes on for his second off the freshening after getting used in pace in that local course debut run; expect he'll again be gunning from the bell here and he showed in his Henson score that if the doesn't break with these he can still be effective; one to consider.
Strong Wind
Sophomore was impacted by the last out winner who subsequently saw his number taken down; he was quite sharp in victory 2 back while facing cheaper and should be right there from the bell at this level; he's the one they'll have to beat.
Atta Boy Pete
Shipper makes his first turf start in his initial local appearance while stepping up a level in his return from 9 months on the shelf; sire gets 14% first surface winners from his offspring and the dam won twice on the green prior to dropping one foal who was 0 for 1 on the footing.
A Toast to You
Ran well to get second money at the level in his first start in 5 months; gelding was quite good without winning down the hill earlier in the year and he's got a right to be tighter with that last one behind him; contender for a sharp outfit.
Da Ruler
Five year old offered plenty of promise early in his sophomore season, but he's had his issues and had nothing but some speed to offer when sent 2 turns in his first start back from the long break for this new outfit; he'll try turf for the initial time here and her sire gets 9% winners from his first turfers; SW dam was 0 for 1 on the green but did drop a surface winner.
El Mirage King
Got up for third money in his local return while making just his third start back from more than 15 months on the shelf; 6 year old has run numbers that fit with these and his speed should have him in the thick of this one from the bell, but he has settled for quite a few minor awards.
Great Friends Rule
AE steps out of the statebred ranks to try open company foes off the sharp gate to wire score a couple of weeks back; he'll catch other speed on the class rise here and though he's proven he can track and fire, these may just prove to be too much for him right not if he draws in.
AE is offered for the optional tag after failing to rally from a ground saving spot in his local return from the break; colt is pretty good when right and he's been working well of late so maybe he'll be able to take that step forward with his last behind him if he gets to meet the starter.
Gelding was pretty good on the lawn last year and though he hasn't been beaten much this season he appears to have lost a bit; AE is a local winner, but he goes from an outside draw if he gets to meet the starter today; should get some pace in front of him.
He's mired on the AE list and not likely to get in to make his local sod debut; he did run pretty well late to beat cheaper at Hollywood 2 back and his career slate suggests he knows how to win, but this is the toughest bunch he's faced in a long while and he'll need to keep improving.

Race 9

Sheriff Hutton
Popped and stopped as wraps added again; there are several winners in the family but none were special; Sutherland has done very well in her comeback and this runner has the speed to flee the rail; could at least muddle the pace.
Songandaprayer has hit with about 10% of his firsters in a 589-runner study; sire was unbeaten in 2 starts at 2, earned almost $400K; all 3 siblings won including Dixie Banner, who took 5 of 41, banked nearly $100K; in for $30K less than purchase price.
Mary Helen's Storm
Over 3 clear to close out 2012 when proving he can handle this surface; 2nd and 4th finishers in the maiden $40K fray graduated next out and the winner that day repeated in a $40K starter, then lost next 6; all systems go.
Handsome Sam
This is a first-time gelding; mirror races and neither was pretty; 3 for 42 dam earned about $65K; lone half sis to race was 0 for 14; note snappy move last Saturday but would have liked to have seen some local spins; backers have to hope the drop shakes him up.
Concorde West
Bonde won a 7-way shake to win this claim; colt was getting to the winner in last and could be more on the muscle early with the blinks; that OP finale came back live as the 3rd and 7th finishers graduated next out and the winner clicked right back in a $62.5K optional, then was 2nd beaten nearly 4 in a $100K stakes at Saratoga;
Senor Snickers
This is a first-time gelding; wraps and stretch out try just didn't pan out; winner of the debut repeated in a state-bred $25K optional with an 83 Beyer; dam 0 for 14; one of 3 siblings won; that runner, Kim's Leading, took 3 of 38, earned nearly $120K; needs a turn around.
Arizona Wildcat
Veered out to kick off, then caught wide but seasonal debut solid; stakes winning 3 for 20 dam banked nearly $90K; both sibs won including half bro Hi Card Gambler, who took 6 of 16, earned almost $100K; no reason he will not improve.
Tale Be Told
Love the spacing of the return drills and like fact he got a local spin too boot; place horse in the 2012 finale graduated next out, won twice after, the last in an N1X at Turf Paradise; the hotter the pace the better for this guy.
Off poorly in last and that's becoming a bad habit; backers can point to the fact this guy's local debut was promising; legged up on the conventional at Pleasanton; has to hurry.
Patiently placed and he must be respected on the drop alone; the 2013 opener came back live as the 2nd and 4th finishers took MSW events next out and the winner repeated in an $80K optional with a gaudy 98 Beyer; anything close to a repeat of the 2012 closer and the rest could be running for minor awards.
Regally Soul
He could have been intimidated by the rail as he was forced to steady when in tight; shorter trip means he has a sixteenth of a mile less to run down the speed; look for him late if at all.
Our Trooper
Arguably his best effort was local when beaten a length with P Val in the boot; runner has a lot of work to do to match top kin Seven Nation Army, who took a stakes and banked over $200K; goes inside to outside; another slice?
Chicago Hero
Never thrilled to see multiple beats at Fairplex as runner regressed in last; he did get a boost when the 7/17 winner repeated in a $40K starter with an 80 Beyer; needs a rebound run.
Gelding just ran around the track; 1 for 7 dam cashed on grass, banked $55K; this is her first to roll; kept legs moving with the drill last Saturday but needs a reversal of fortune.
