Cleveland, longtime trainer, dead

EmailFormer Midwest and East Coast trainer E. K. "Ted" Cleveland Jr. died in Lexington, Ky., on Friday from cancer. Cleveland, who was 76, trained for approximately 50 years and developed such horses as Hoist Emy's Flag and Faster Than Sound, both stakes winners in the 1980's.

Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington is in charge of arrangements for Cleveland, who is survived by four children.
