Claiborne raises Arch's fee

Claiborne Farm will raise Arch's stud fee in 2007 while lowering fees for four of its other stallions, the farm announced Monday.

Arch will carry a $25,000 stud fee in 2007, up from his $15,000 fee this season. His most noteworthy runners this year are Alabama and Gazelle winner Pine Island, Del Mar Oaks winner Arravale, and dual Group 1 winner Les Arcs. Arch, an 11-year-old Kris S. horse, also is the sire of South Africa's 2006 champion sprinter, Overarching.

The four stallions whose fees will decrease in 2007 are During, who drops from $10,000 to $7,500; Horse Chestnut, from $10,000 to $5,000; Monarchos, from $15,000 to $7,500; and Stroll, from $7,500 to $5,000. Claiborne's other stallions -including Seeking the Gold at $125,000 and Pulpit at $80,000 - will have the same fees they had this year.

Claiborne also will debut First Samurai at stud in 2007. The 3-year-old Giant's Causeway-Freddie Frisson colt, who won last year's Champagne and Hopeful stakes, will stand for $40,000.

* Four of Padua Stables' five stallions in Summerfield, Fla., will have the same fees they had last year, and Pico Central will have his fee there lowered from $10,000 to $7,500 in 2007, Padua announced Monday. The rest of Padua's 2007 stallion roster and fees are Delaware Township, $6,500; Exchange Rate, $10,000; Proud Accolade, $5,000; and Snow Ridge, $5,000.
