Claiborne Farm raises War Front fee to $60K

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., will raise War Front's stud fee from $15,000 this year to $60,000 in 2012, the farm announced late Thursday afternoon.

A 9-year-old Danzig stallion, War Front has had a banner year with such runners as Grade 1 winner The Factor, Del Mar Oaks winner Summer Soiree, Grade 2 winners Soldat and State of Play, and Grade 1-placed Emerald Gold, among other stakes winners.

All but two other stallions at the historic nursery will remain at their 2011 fee levels. The two with fee alterations, First Samurai and Stroll, both will stand for less in the coming breeding season than they did in 2011. First Samurai drops from $25,000 to $15,000, and Stroll goes from $7,500 to $5,000.

A fee for Flatter will be announced later, according to Claiborne's announcement.

All others remain the same, including Pulpit, who had been the farm's most expensive sire at $50,000. The rest of the roster features Arch at $30,000, Blame at $35,000, Eddington at $5,000, Horse Greeley at $5,000, and Parading at $3,500.
