Citizen Geller won his second straight stakes race at the Downs at Albuquerque meet Saturday, when he overtook Stormin the Jewels for a half-length victory in the $70,000 Casey Darnell. The win came following a June score in the track’s $70,000 O.D. McDonald. Citizen Geller ($4.60) cut back in distance for the 5 1/2-furlong race for New Mexico-breds and stalked the pace set by Raider Red. In the stretch, Citizen Geller overtook Raider Red and Stormin the Jewels to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:02.43. Miguel Perez was aboard the winner for trainer Justin Evans. Citizen Geller earned $42,000 for the win to improve his record to eight victories from 31 starts for earnings of $299,444. Citizen Geller is a son of Pro Prado, who races for UKUSA Stable.   The Casey Darnell was named for the late American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame member who also bred, owned, and trained Thoroughbreds.
