Who knows what would have happened if Godolphin started DISCREET CAT in the Breeders' Cup Classic? He did whip Invasor earlier in the year in the UAE Derby. But, discretion is often the bettor part of valor, and Discreet Cat will go off a deserving favorite in the Cigar Mile. He annihilated Accountforthegold two starts back at Saratoga, and that rival won the graded Stuyvesant here last week. He didn't have to take a deep breath when dominating the Jerome in a 115 Beyer effort last time, and should work out a nice stalking trip under Garrett Gomez. He hasn't been tested in his career, and it's quite possible that he is the most talented horse in the country. He offers no wagering value whatsoever, but he's always fun to watch, and he should put on a good show on Saturday. Five of SILVER TRAIN's six lifetime wins have come at Belmont - including the Breeders' Cup Sprint - and it will be interesting to see if he can transfer that winning form to the Big 'A.' He was compromised by a speed-favoring track in the Vosburgh last time out, and his best races put him right there with Discreet Cat. BADGE OF SILVER ran a huge race in the Breeders' Cup Mile considering it was his first start since New Year's Day. He finished second in this race in 2004 off a similar race pattern, and projects to be on the engine from the rail under Castellano. SHARP HUMOR battled every step of the way in his first start since the Kentucky Derby, and was just nosed by the older Gold and Roses. He'll likely keep Badge of Silver company up front.

Selections: 1. Discreet Cat 2. Silver Train 3. Badge of Silver
