Churchill Downs: Wise Dan to be paraded on closing day

Wise Dan, the 2012 Horse of the Year and the heavy favorite for a repeat this year, will be paraded in the paddock next Saturday, Nov. 30, during the closing-day program of the fall meet at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

The public appearance is tentatively scheduled between the third and fourth races, or at about 1:30 p.m. Eastern.

Wise Dan, a 6-year-old gelding bred and owned by Mort Fink and trained by Charlie LoPresti, won twice at Churchill this year during a 6-for-7 season that ended Nov. 2 with a repeat victory in the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita. Based at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky., he will be vanned to Churchill on the morning of his public appearance.

Wise Dan will be given a rest during the winter at LoPresti’s farm outside Lexington before gearing up for a 7-year-old campaign.

What a ego LoPresti has, you parade the horse after they retire not the end of a season. So now every great horse should be paraded after each season.

Sounds like you've put a ton of thought into this. Yes, I'm sure LoPresti called Churchill Downs and begged them to allow Wise Dan to be paraded between races. Sounds like a Churchill move, not a LoPresti one, there, Mike......
