Churchill Downs: My Miss Aurelia to be freshened on Florida farm

Email

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – My Miss Aurelia, the undefeated winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs and the surefire 2-year-old filly champion of 2011, is being shipped from Churchill to the Ocala area for a brief freshening before gearing back up for the classic races in her division next year, it was announced Tuesday.

A media release on behalf of the filly’s co-owners, George Bolton and the Stonestreet Stables of Barbara Banke, said My Miss Aurelia will have her vacation where she was trained before her racing career began, at Gulf Coast Farm near Ocala in central Florida. The release mentioned a (sore) shin that My Miss Aurelia has developed since her three-length victory in the Nov. 4 BC Juvenile Fillies but indicated it should not be any sort of long-term problem.

My Miss Aurelia, trained by Steve Asmussen, also won the Grade 1 Frizette before capturing the Juvenile Fillies as one of the few winning favorites during the two-day Breeders’ Cup programs.
