Churchill Downs: Blueeyesintherein eyes Saratoga

Blueeyesintherein has won 4 of 5 career starts.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Blueeyesintherein earned an 86 Beyer Speed Figure in a 4 3/4-length romp Thursday in a third-level allowance at Churchill Downs and probably goes next in the Grade 1 $300,000 Prioress Stakes, a six-furlong race on July 27 at Saratoga, said trainer Garry Simms.

“We’re definitely thinking Saratoga, although I’m not all that crazy about running back later in the Test” because of the longer distance, said Simms. The Grade 1, $500,000 Test Stakes will be run on Aug. 24 at seven furlongs.

Blueeyesintherein, a 3-year-old filly by Magna Graduate, has won 4 of 5 career starts, with her only defeat coming in the seven-furlong Eight Belles Stakes on Kentucky Oaks Day. She won the Debutante Stakes here last summer.

Simms also won the last race Thursday, a $10,000, maiden-claiming sprint, with Kendall M.D. The 3-year-old gelding was named for one of his (now former) co-owners, Kendall Hansen, whose most well-known namesake equine is Hansen, the retired 2-year-old champion male of 2011. Kendall M.D. was claimed from the race by Maggi Moss and Tom Amoss.
