Churchill adds infield perks

Churchill Downs officials said Wednesday that the Infield Club hospitality area on Kentucky Oaks and Derby days will feature expanded amenities and added that tickets can be purchased only in a two-day package for $250.

The 93,000-square-foot Infield Club was introduced last year as a sequestered alternative to the more raucous infield experience by offering a 430-foot bar, JumboTron televisions, sports-bar style food, private restrooms, limited shaded seating areas, and other features. Whereas seating and shaded areas were limited last year, major enhancements in those and other areas have been made for this year, according to a Churchill media release.

General admission to the infield is $25 for the April 30 Oaks and $40 for the May 1 Derby. Last year, Infield Club tickets were sold separately for $50 and $150, respectively, or $175 for the two-day package.

An upgraded version known as the Infield Club VIP package is available this year for $375.
