CHRB fines trainer Miyadi for altercation with Solis

Email

CYPRESS, Calif. – Trainer Steve Miyadi was fined $750 on Thursday for his action in a physical altercation with jockey and California Horse Racing Board commissioner Alex Solis in September at Santa Anita.

The stewards cited Miyadi for disorderly conduct in the incident, which led to the trainer being briefly detained by Arcadia, Calif., police. The stewards suspended Miyadi for four days, but credited him with time served when he was summarily suspended by the racing board in the days after the incident.

Miyadi received a stay from the racing board in late September to allow him to continue training until a hearing was conducted. Thursday’s decision was the result of that hearing.

Miyadi pushed Solis to the ground following a disagreement between the two one morning concerning a 30-day suspension Miyadi served earlier this year for a medication violation by one of his runners in December 2015.
