Chilean mare brings $210,000

LEXINGTON, Ky. - A $210,000 Chilean-bred broodmare was the session leader late Tuesday afternoon on the ninth day of Keeneland's 10-day November breeding stock sale. Santa Escolastica purchased the mare, Crystal House, from Craig Bandoroff's Denali Stud agency.

Crystal House was Chile's horse of the year and champion 3-year-old filly in 1999. She is by Golden Voyager and out of the Northair mare Cristalline, who was herself a champion mare, champion 3-year-old filly, and champion grass mare in Chile. Crystal House is a full sister to Chilean Grade 2 winner Crystal Clear and a half-sister to Cristal, the dam of Chilean champion juvenile Crisantemo.

On Monday, a pair of $80,000 mares brought the afternoon's top price at the Keeneland sale's eighth session.

Gold Bracelet, an unraced 3-year-old by Dixieland Band, sold in foal to Open Forum. John J. Greely IV bought Gold Bracelet from the Lane's End consignment. The mare is a full sister to Grade 2 winner Dixieland Gold.

Dynamous, a 4-year-old Dynaformer stakes winner offered as a broodmare prospect, went to Graham Beck's Gainesway operation. Mill Ridge Sales, agent, consigned the filly, who is out of the unraced Diesis mare Nateja.

The Monday session sold 287 lots for a total of $4,632,800, averaging $16,142 and posting a median of $13,000.

The sale was to continue through Wednesday.
