AUBURN, Wash. - Chestnut Lady came from ninth in a field of 10 2-year-old fillies to win Saturday's $89,290 Barbara Shinpoch Stakes by three-parts of a length over Carrie With a C, who was part of an entry favored at 1-2. The pacesetting She's All Silk held third.

Chestnut Lady got the one mile distance in 1:38.60 under rider Miguel Perez, who traveled from Northern California to ride for trainer Jim Penney. She earned $49,110 for owners Mike and Amy Feuerborn and paid $22.40 to win.

It was just the second start for Chestnut Lady, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Horse Chestnut who won her debut against maiden special weight company at Emerald on Aug. 6.
