Chelsey's Image favored

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The fillies division of the $60,000 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Sales Stakes begins the weekend that leads into the organization's mixed sale this Tuesday. The colts and geldings division runs on Sunday.

Horses who have gone through a CTHS Sale where the full commission was paid are eligible to start in their respective races. The 6 1/2-furlong feature drew a full field of 10 2-year-old fillies and goes as the eighth race.

At $52,000, Chelsey's Image was one of the highest-priced yearlings in last year's sale, and her owners, Nick and Pauline Felicella, were the top spenders.

Trained by Gary Demorest, Chelsey's Image will likely be favored off of her front-running win in the 6 1/2-furlong B.C. Cup Debutante on Aug. 7. A grey daughter of Holy Bull, Chelsey's Image also finished second in the Timber Music Stakes on July 8.

Anderson Ward has been named to ride.

Chelsey's Image will have her hands full with a couple of horses she beat in the Debutante.

Suva, who broke from the nine-hole and then made a strong late move while four wide to finish second in the Debutante, figures to get a better trip from post 3 in the Sales Stakes.

Napa led from start to finish in her debut before finishing a close fourth in the Debutante. She'll be running with blinkers for the first time Saturday.
