Check These Legs to like drop

AUBURN, Wash. - Check These Legs, a winner of two of her three starts last year, will dip down in class in an attempt to regain her winning form in Friday's Emerald Downs feature, a six-furlong sprint for $8,000 fillies who have not defeated winners twice.

Check These Legs was claimed by trainer Doug Driever for owner Jim Ingalls out of her second start last year, a score over $12,500 maidens, then came right back to defeat winners for the same tag. In three starts this year at 4 she has notched a fourth, a second, and another fourth, while racing for higher claiming prices against open company.

Last time out on June 14, Check These Legs pressed the pace before tiring to lose by less than six lengths versus $12,500 multiple winners in a 6 1/2-furlong sprint. She should appreciate the class drop.

Check These Legs figures to be challenged early by Miss Super Finale, who is coming off back-to-back wins over $5,000 maidens and $5,000 non-winners of two races. Miss Super Finale led throughout in both races, winning in a crisp 1:10.20 for six furlongs last time out, on June 8. Though she is stepping up in class on Friday, she is on a steadily improving pattern and does not appear to be overmatched.

Another possibility is Dixieland Plan, who is the only 3-year-old in the field of 11. Dixieland Plan won her debut here on June 9. Leading rider Kevin Radke retains the mount for trainer Aubrey Villyard, who has five winners from only 22 starters at the meet.
