Check in Advance wins on Hoosier closing day

Check in Advance proved best of 12 Indiana-bred and -sired 2-year-olds in the $100,000 Indiana Futurity at Hoosier Park on Sunday, closing day of the track's meet.

Jockey Fernando De La Cruz had Check in Advance just off the quick early pace to the turn and then angled the colt out and went on to win by 2 3/4 lengths. Trained by Lori Smock, Check in Advance ran the six furlongs in 1:11.40 over a fast track.

Pacesetting Lana's Dream was second, 1 1/2 lengths in front of Dixiesaltshaker. Heavy Favorite Geordie failed to fire and rounded out the superfecta. Check in Advance returned $10.20 to win
