Charles Town: Two six-figure stakes winners clash

Email

Julie B and Cedar Run's Emblem, both winners of six-figure stakes on last month's West Virginia Breeders Classic card, will square off in the $50,000 My Sister Pearl Stakes at Charles Town.

Julie B, 13 for 18 lifetime locally, is at her best going seven furlongs, the distance of her score in the $500,000 West Virginia Cavada. But she is capable of handling the 1 1/8 miles of the My Sister Pearl, as evidenced by her 4 3/4-length win in last year's Daisy Mae.

Cedar Run's Emblem defeated nine rivals in the inaugural running of the nine-furlong West Virginia Breeders Classic, but flattened out and was badly beaten when she returned two weeks later in a restricted allowance.

The field of eight West Virginia-bred fillies and mares also includes Shesagrumptoo, who finished second to Julie B in the Cavada, her first start off a $32,000 claim by trainer Raimondo Schiano-Dicola.
