Charles Town: Two fillies fit well

Email

Julie B and Seattle's Bodgit, who both ran well in longer races out of town last time out, fit well in the $50,000 Lady Charles Town, a seven-furlong stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

Julie B, cross-entered in Saturday's Susan's Girl at Delaware, is coming off a second-place finish in a one-mile overnight stakes at Delaware a month ago. She has three wins and a near miss in four starts sprinting at Charles Town.

Seattle's Bodgit, based at the Bowie Training Center in Maryland with trainer Gary Capuano, improved her Beyer Speed Figure nearly 30 points when she faced winners for the first time, stretching out to 1 1/16 miles for a first-level allowance at Pimlico.

Two other solid contenders are Phoney Exchange, the winner of a 4 1/2-furlong stakes at Charles Town a month ago, and Standing for Peace, who scored by 5 1/2 lengths despite lugging in during the stretch run of a 6 1/2-furlong allowance two weeks ago.
