Charles Town, Parx, Beulah cancel due to weather


Charles Town canceled Tuesday night’s nine-race card due to snow but said it plans to resume racing Wednesday night.

Charles Town said it would remain open for simulcasting Tuesday. The West Virginia track had received almost two inches of snow by late Tuesday morning, and another one to three inches was expected during the afternoon, according to The Weather Channel.

First post for Wednesday’s nine-race card is 7:15 p.m.

** Parx canceled for the second straight day on Tuesday due to the affects of the storm. Parx is scheduled to resume racing on Saturday.

** Beulah Park attempted to race Tuesday but canceled its last three races due to thawing track conditions.

n the last race run, the fifth, Shoe Freak Marlene was on the lead when he broke down in the stretch. Jockey Rodrigo Vergara jumped off Shoe Freak Marlene and missed being struck by any of the trailing horses. Vergara was taken to Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus for an injured elbow. 

Racing at Beulah is scheduled to resume Saturday afternoon.
