Charles Town: Navy Chapel targets win No. 4

Email

Navy Chapel will be trying for her fourth win of the year when she faces eight other 2-year-old West Virginia-accredited fillies in the $50,000 Eleanor Casey Memorial at Charles Town on Saturday evening.

Trained by Jeff Runco, Navy Chapel won at first asking Aug. 14. Navy Chapel then came back and won the Rachels Turn on Sept. 17 by 5 1/4 lengths. In her next out Oct. 15, she won the West Virginia Breeders Classic Juvenile Fillies by nearly five lengths. All three local starts were against statebred company and were run at 4 1/2 furlongs. In her last out, Nov. 5, she finished second in the $121,000 Tri State Futurity going seven furlongs, the same distance as this event. J.D. Acosta, aboard for all four of her starts, retains the mount.

Runco also sends out the uncoupled Oli Ravioli, a maiden winner in her last. Oli Ravioli won a maiden event Nov. 23 at Charles Town going 6 1/2 furlongs over a sloppy track. She came back with a bullet work Tuesday. Luis Batista will ride for the first time.

Others in the field are Can’t Run a Jump, Livelly Belle, Rita Haywood, La Chupacabra, Kick Ash, Pagan Jewel, and Ok Listen Up.
