The 2-year-old filly Navy Chapel secures her third stakes victory of the season in the Eleanor Casey Memorial.

Navy Chapel bounced back from her first career defeat in last month’s Tri-State Futurity to score by 1 1/2 lengths in Saturday night’s $51,100 Eleanor Casey Memorial Stakes for West Virginia-bred 2-year-old fillies at Charles Town.

Ridden by J.D. Acosta for trainer Jeff Runco, Navy Chapel ($2.20) sat in third as Pagan Jewel went a slow half-mile in 49.33 seconds. Navy Chapel began to launch her bid with three furlongs remaining in the seven-furlong race, drew even at the five-sixteenths pole, and drew clear in deep stretch. In winning for the fourth  time in five starts, Navy Chapel completed the distance over a fast track in 1:30.27.

A pair of maidens, each making their fourth career start, 33-1 Rita Haywood and 92-1 longshot Ok Listen Up, finished second and third to complete a $2 trifecta that paid $385.80.
