Immortal Eyes continued his sensational season as an 8-year-old sprinter when he wore down pacesetter Fearsome in the stretch to win the Jefferson County Commission Handicap, one of three $50,000 stakes on Friday night’s program at Charles Town. Ridden by Travis Dunkelberger for trainer Damon Dilodovico, Immortal Eyes ($3) drew clear in the stretch to win the 4 ½-furlong sprint by 1 1/4 lengths in 50.67 seconds. It was the 10th win in 12 starts at Charles Town for Immortal Eyes, who is 6 for 10 this year, including a win in the $350,000 Frank De Francis Memorial Dash in his previous start. Fearsome finished five lengths clear of third-place Brooklyn Cowboy, losing for the first time in five starts locally. The 4-year-old Fearsome defeated Immortal Eyes when they met earlier this year in the Charles Town Dash. Managed Account ($3.60) collected his fourth win in his last five starts when he cruised to a 2 3/4-length score in the Governor’s Cup Handicap at 1 1/8 miles. Strike the Moon ($4.80) ended a nine-race losing streak when she nosed out Hymn Note in the Municipalities Mayors Handicap for fillies and mares going seven furlongs.
